Community Prepares Candlelight Vigil After Police Find Body Believed to Be Pheobe Bishop Near Good Night Scrub National Park in Queensland

In a heartbreaking development near Gin Gin, Queensland, authorities have found a body believed to be that of missing teenager Pheobe Bishop.

This grim discovery comes just hours after Pheobe’s two roommates appeared in court facing murder charges.

The search had been focused near Good Night Scrub National Park, where human remains were located around 2:30 pm.

Investigation and Formal Identification Underway

While the remains have not yet been formally identified, investigators are in contact with Pheobe’s family as they carry out forensic examinations at the crime scene.

Police have established a perimeter around the area as they piece together what happened.

The charges against James Wood, 34, and Tanika Bromley, 33, include murder and interfering with a corpse.

Both were the last known people to see Pheobe alive after dropping her off at Bundaberg Airport on May 15.

Police Seek Public Help for More Information

Police are urging anyone with information about Pheobe Bishop or any movement involving a grey Hyundai IX35 between May 15 and 18 in the greater Gin Gin region to come forward.

Their ongoing appeal highlights the importance of community support in solving this tragic case.

Family and Community Mourn a Devastating Loss

Pheobe’s mother, Kylie Johnson, expressed her deep anguish upon hearing the news.

“I didn’t think my heart could break anymore than it did when you went missing, or when the charges were laid, but this… this is ripping me apart,” she said.

The local community is coming together to hold a candlelight vigil on Sunday night to honor Pheobe’s life and begin the healing process.

Community Strength in the Face of Heartbreak

Ms. Johnson acknowledged the resilience of rural families but admitted that this tragedy has been overwhelming.

“Like most rural families, we are resilient, proud, and strong, but this has brought us to our knees like no drought ever could,” she shared.

The vigil is intended not only to commemorate Pheobe’s impact but also to help the community start to heal while awaiting the opportunity to give Pheobe a proper farewell.
