COLLISION ON THE M4 BETWEEN UMHLANGA AND LA LUCIA IN DURBAN NORTH LEAVES 12 INJURED

At 10H40 on Saturday morning, Netcare 911 responded to a collision on the M4 between Umhlanga and La Lucia in Durban North.

A fully loaded minibus taxi and a car collided, according to sources, causing both vehicles to leave the road.

The first responders on the scene included Durban Metropolitan Police Search and Rescue, Durban Metropolitan Police, Durban North SAPS, Marshall Security, ALS paramedics, Ethekwini Fire and Rescue Services, and KZN EMS.

Twelve passengers in the taxi have minor to moderate injuries, according to medics.

The car’s driver, an adult female, suffered moderate injuries.

A Netcare 911 emergency care practitioner treated the woman on the scene, while Fire and Rescue Services used hydraulic tools to rescue her from the vehicle.

All of the patients were taken to the hospital for further treatment once they had been stabilized.
