City Power Johannesburg has announced that several areas in the city will experience an 8-hour planned power outage on Monday, 3 March 2025.
This scheduled maintenance is part of ongoing efforts to improve the electricity network and provide better service to residents.
Why is the Power Going Out?
According to City Power Johannesburg, the scheduled outage is necessary to carry out vital maintenance work on their electricity infrastructure.
This will help ensure that the power supply is more reliable in the future.
They also reminded customers to remain cautious with their electricity supply points during this period.
“As the power could be restored at any time, residents are advised to treat their electricity supply points as live,” the statement emphasized.

Power Disruptions Addressed in Other Parts of Johannesburg
In addition to the planned outages, City Power Johannesburg is also working on resolving a power disruption affecting more than four areas in the city.
The cause has been identified, and repairs are underway.
The affected areas include Bez Valley, Kensington, Cyrildene, Observatory, and surrounding neighborhoods.
City Power expects to provide an estimated time for restoration once repairs begin.
They advised residents to unplug electrical appliances to prevent further issues.
