Cheetahs confirm contract extensions and new arrivals

The players who have extended their contracts with the franchise are hooker Louis van der Westhuizen, lock Victor Sekete and loose forwards Gideon van der Merwe and Jeandre Rudolph.

Meanwhile, Friedle Olivier will be joining the Cheetahs in July from Enisei-STM in the Russian Rugby Premier League

Olivier, whose regular position is No 8 but who can also play as a flanker or a lock, has signed a two-year contract.

Lastly, former Cheetahs player Hencus van Wyk is also returning to the Free State Cheetahs in July after a stint with San Diego Legion in the USA.

Cheetahs currently top the Currie Cup log

The Cheetahs are currently atop the Currie Cup standings after a perfect six wins from six matches played this season.

They have a bye in Wednesday, 6 April’s round of matches and will next be in action when they travel to Cape Town to face Western Province on Good Friday, 15 April.

Kick-off is scheduled for 16:45.
