Carlo Ancelotti expresses frustration over refereeing decisions as Real Madrid faces controversy in LaLiga and Champions League

Carlo Ancelotti is known for his calm demeanor, but even he can’t hide his frustration with recent refereeing decisions.

Despite his obvious displeasure, the Real Madrid boss insists he has “nothing to say” about the officiating drama surrounding his team, especially after Jude Bellingham’s controversial red card against Osasuna.

Bellingham’s Red Card Sparks Debate

Jude Bellingham found himself at the center of controversy after being sent off in the 39th minute of Real Madrid’s match against Osasuna.

The English midfielder reportedly told referee Jose Luis Munuera Montero to “f*** off,” but the official claims Bellingham actually said “f*** you,” which led to his immediate dismissal for using abusive language.

The incident has sparked heated debates across Spanish media, with many questioning the inconsistency in officiating.

Some reports even suggest Real Madrid are so frustrated that they might consider a drastic move away from LaLiga if things don’t improve.

Ancelotti Stands by His Team

Following the draw against Osasuna, Ancelotti made it clear that he stands by his player and remains deeply dissatisfied with the level of refereeing in Spain.

When asked about the incident ahead of their Champions League showdown with Manchester City, Ancelotti refused to elaborate further, saying, “I have already given my opinion. It is quite surprising, and I have nothing to add.”

He also pointed out that this isn’t an isolated case.

“We are not happy with what happened against Osasuna, Atlético… three games in which we were disadvantaged, and I do not understand it.”

Champions League Officiating: A Different Standard

While frustrated with LaLiga’s refereeing, Ancelotti believes European competitions are much better in this regard.

“In Europe, there is less controversy and fewer interventions. It is done when necessary.

In the Champions League, the best referees from each country officiate, and the quality is very high,” he explained.

The veteran manager also hopes that Bellingham avoids further punishment and remains available as Real Madrid continue their title chase alongside Barcelona at the top of the table.

More Officiating Controversy: The Mbappé Incident

The referee controversy isn’t limited to Bellingham’s red card.

On February 1, Real Madrid faced Espanyol in another match filled with questionable officiating.

Kylian Mbappé was taken down in a harsh tackle by Carlos Romero in the 61st minute, but instead of a red card, Romero only received a yellow.

Adding to the frustration, Romero stayed on the pitch and went on to score the game-winning goal in the 85th minute.

He later apologized to Mbappé for the reckless challenge, but that did little to ease the anger from Ancelotti and the Madrid camp.

Real Madrid Confronts Refereeing Council

Monday saw Real Madrid officials meet with the Spanish refereeing council (CTA) to address their growing concerns over inconsistent decisions.

According to Marca, Real Madrid representatives made it clear that they feel unfairly treated, though the CTA has denied any bias against the club.

With tensions running high, all eyes are now on how LaLiga officials handle future matches involving Los Blancos.

Will the club get fairer treatment moving forward, or will their frustrations continue to mount? Only time will tell.
