Following a gas leak at a residence, three individuals were sent to the hospital with carbon monoxide poisoning, prompting an urgent caution for residents to check their heaters.

Just before 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, fire and rescue personnel were requested to a Rosehill residence in Sydney’s west due to allegations of a gas leak.

When the firefighters entered the home and found a man and woman in their 70s and a guy in his 50s who were both critically unwell, they were all using breathing apparatuses. The personnel were from Parramatta and Silverwater Fire Stations.

While two of the residents were barely aware, one was unconscious.

Firefighters brought the three victims of carbon monoxide poisoning outdoors.

Before an ambulance came and took the inhabitants to the hospital, emergency care was given.

According to New South Wales Fire & Rescue, they were overtaken by CO gas from an interior heater that was malfunctioning.

People have been encouraged by Fire and Rescue to check their heaters for leaks since carbon monoxide poisoning may be fatal.

According to a statement, “FRNSW recommends the public to ensure heaters are frequently serviced.”

When allowed to build up in a small area, carbon monoxide, a colourless, tasteless, and odourless gas, may make a person comatose and prove fatal.
