Business : ASEAN SME Academy 2.0 launched to support ASEAN economic recovery

The US-ASEAN Business Council (US-ABC), the United States Agency for International Development and ASEAN has launched the ASEAN SME Academy 2.0, an upgraded version of the online learning platform.
The revamped website allows micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to choose courses available in local languages, namely Bahasa Indonesia, Thai and Vietnamese.
It features new attractive visual design and top-quality resources, including specific modules for COVID-19 recovery.
The hybrid launch was hosted in the Philippine Trade Training Center Hall in Manila and live-streamed to audiences across the region today.
In his remarks, ASEAN secretary-general Datuk Lim Jock Hoi underscored that digitalisation is a new power of growth and competitiveness for every business and economy.
“Changing the broader business mindset to harness digital technology is the key to success,” he said.
The public health crisis spurs the adoption of new ways of working and demands for new skill sets, chair of ASEAN coordinating committee on MSME and Malaysia’s Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives secretary-general Datuk Suriani Ahmad said.
“In the face of this grim pandemic, we can celebrate the acceleration of digital transformation, especially in business and learning environments,” she said.
The development of the revamped website was supported by US-ABC member companies Amazon Web Services, Meta, Visa, Google and SAP, which reaffirmed the important role of the US private sector in empowering small businesses across the region.
MSMEs can start learning now by registering for the academy here: https://www.asean-sme-academy.org.
