During a recent appearance on Fox & Friends, LIV Golf star Bryson DeChambeau opened up about a dinner he had with former President Donald Trump ahead of LIV’s event in Miami.

The dinner, held on Thursday, set the stage for some interesting conversations, as Trump spoke to LIV Golf players and celebrities before the event at his Doral golf course.

DeChambeau Reflects on His Interaction with Trump

DeChambeau shared his thoughts on his interaction with Trump, noting that the former president is a big fan of golf.

He described Trump as a “great ambassador” for both the sport and diplomacy.

Bryson emphasized that spending time with him had been a pleasant experience and helped him see a different side of the former president.

“It’s been fun to play some golf with him, get to know him a little bit better, and just recognize that he’s just a normal person,” DeChambeau said.

He also mentioned that earlier in the summer, he had played a round of golf with Trump for charity, which was streamed on YouTube.

A Relaxed Evening with Celebrities

The dinner, held after Trump announced tariffs on foreign countries, was a more laid-back affair.

DeChambeau mentioned that the evening was enjoyable, with a guest list that included figures like Kid Rock and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

“We didn’t talk much about politics, we just enjoyed our time together,” Bryson said, adding that the group was grateful to Trump for allowing them to use his golf course.

Trump’s Role in LIV and PGA Tour Negotiations

Trump has also played a key role in facilitating discussions between LIV Golf and the PGA Tour.

Earlier this year, he hosted a meeting at the White House between PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan and Yasir Al-Rumayyan, the Saudi PIF governor, to discuss the potential for a merger between the two tours.

DeChambeau commented on how positive the experience has been for him personally, praising LIV’s impact on the global golf scene and its ability to inspire the next generation of players.

The Future of LIV and PGA Tour

While DeChambeau didn’t give any specifics about when a merger might happen, he hinted at the growing possibilities.

“We are pushing the boundaries, for sure,” he said.

“I think it showed the PGA what potentials there are, and hopefully something can get done at some point and time.”

Despite the ongoing negotiations, he remains optimistic about the future of LIV and its role in the sport.
