Jamie Lynn Spears Joins US Version of Strictly Come Dancing
Jamie Lynn Spears, the younger sister of popstar Britney Spears, has been confirmed as a contestant in the US version of “Strictly Come Dancing.” The news was announced on Good Morning America (GMA), where Spears, aged 32, appeared alongside her professional dance partner, Alan Bersten, aged 29.
Donating Earnings Amid Hollywood Strike
During her appearance on GMA, Spears discussed her participation in the show and her decision to donate her weekly earnings to the actors’ union SAG-AFTRA and the writers’ union WGA. She emphasized that this opportunity came at a time when Hollywood was experiencing an ongoing strike.
She stated, “I’m able to do it for a reason that means a lot to me. While everybody in my community is on strike, I’ve had this unique opportunity where I was offered this chance to work when my community can’t work. So I figured I’ll do this and I will donate my weekly salary to SAG [and] WGA and just give back to them at a time when they can’t even give to themselves.”
Facing the Challenge Ahead
When asked about her confidence in preparation for the show’s launch on September 26 (available for UK viewers on Disney Plus), Spears acknowledged the magnitude of the challenge. She remarked, “I don’t know if one can ever be 100 percent ready to take on something this big. I didn’t realize what a commitment it is [but] I’m ready to challenge myself.”
Rehearsal Studio Excitement
Footage from the rehearsal studio featuring Spears and Bersten was shared on social media. In the video, Spears expressed her enthusiasm for joining the cast of “Dancing with the Stars” and her eagerness to showcase her dancing abilities.
