A group of Belgian men reportedly raped a British woman at a hotel in a seaside resort on the island of Rhodes.

The 31-year-old British woman stated that she and her friends met the group of up to eight Belgians in the early hours of Sunday morning at a nightclub in the seaside resort of Faliraki.

The claimed victim said that the group of five to eight Belgian men, thought to be between 30 and 35 years old, drove her and her friends back to their Faliraki hotel room.

The 31-year-old woman alleged that a group of men then assaulted her and raped her in a group.

The woman informed the authorities that she escaped the hotel and grabbed a cab back to her own hotel.

She reported the alleged gang rape to authorities around 7:00 a.m. local time on Monday.

The police initiated an inquiry and have subsequently detained four unnamed Belgian suspects. The British woman has identified the four men as the suspected perpetrators of her rape.

Investigators have collected DNA samples from the four men, as police continue to look for the other suspects.
