The men’s 1500m final at the Paris Olympics turned out to be a spectacular race, full of drama and surprises.

Josh Kerr, representing Team GB, clinched the silver medal in a nail-biting finish. This event was eagerly anticipated, largely due to the intense rivalry between Kerr and Jakob Ingebrigtsen.

Josh Kerr is pondering whether his recent race against Jakob Ingebrigtsen might be the last time they clash in the 1500m at the Olympics.

Kerr suspects that Ingebrigtsen, who came in fourth in this race, might focus on the 5,000m event when the next Olympics roll around in Los Angeles in 2028.

“He’s obviously pretty dominant in the 5,000m,” Kerr said.

“I can’t see him running the 1500m for another whole Olympic cycle. But he’s running really, really fast times, so that’s not really down to me. I’ll be sticking to my 1500m.”

Tuesday night’s race was one of the highlights of the Paris Games, with American runner Cole Hocker emerging as the surprise victor.

Hocker set an Olympic record with a stunning time of 3:27.65, while Kerr broke Mo Farah’s British record with his time of 3:27.79. Despite the fierce competition, Kerr’s performance was nothing short of impressive.

Kerr’s Vision for the Future

Kerr believes that the 1500m should get more recognition, suggesting that Netflix should consider making a documentary about the event, similar to their series *Sprint*, which focuses on the 100m and 200m sprints.

“I think it would be cool, I think there would be compelling stories,” Kerr said. “Maybe some of the guys are a little bit boring, but I’m sure we’d be able to spice it up enough.”

A Celebration Well Earned

Following the race, Kerr celebrated his silver medal with a few pints.

“The definition of handful was that my hand was full at all times,” he said with a grin. “It was good fun. My head was a little bit sore this morning but it’s better than my legs being sore.”
