The funeral for 28-year-old Hillary Gardee was held in Mbombela in Mpumalanga on Saturday. Gardee’s body was found after a four-day long search operation. Hillary was the daughter of former EFF Secretary General Godrich Gardee.
With so many questions as to the motive behind the killing, Cele admitted that it does seem that politics is involved.
“There’s been a question asked time and again by the media is it political? Is it criminal? And it does seem to be a combination of both. At this present moment, we have four men who chased this woman around. The one is going to court on Monday, we have three more men of interest.”

A FATHER SAYS A HEARTBREAKING GOODBYE
In a seven-minute recorded video message that played out during the funeral, Godrich Gardee recounted all the horrific injuries the family noted on his daughter’s body.
“Litle did we know you would die a tragic death. A death characterised by boot prints on your chest. A blunt object striking your head. Stab wounds on your breast and back. A gunshot on the back of your head. And a bleeding nose. It never occurred to me and the family that we would have to identify you in a bush lying face down. With your hand clutching tightly on shrubs and grass fighting for your life. “
