A terrifying incident unfolded recently at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport that has left a family and many others shaken.
A 31-year-old man from Belarus, who had just arrived from Cairo, suddenly grabbed a toddler who wasn’t his and violently threw the child onto the floor, sending the little boy into a coma.
What Happened at the Baggage Claim in Terminal C
The unsettling event took place on June 23, 2025, in the baggage claim area of Terminal C.
The attacker approached a family from Kabul, Afghanistan—who had fled conflict—and without warning, grabbed their two-year-old boy.
Witnesses described seeing the man acting erratically before he lifted the child and slammed him down hard.
Security footage that surfaced online shows the man watching the boy near a suitcase, then suddenly moving from behind to seize him and violently throw him to the ground.
Authorities later confirmed the man was under the influence of drugs at the time of the attack.
Police Detain the Suspect
Irina Volk, spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, announced via Telegram that the man was quickly detained at the airport.
The investigation is now underway as officials work to understand the full circumstances behind the attack.
The Toddler’s Critical Condition
The boy suffered severe injuries, including head trauma that caused him to lose consciousness.
He was rushed to the Roshal Pediatric Clinical Center in Krasnogorsk, where he remains in serious condition.
Doctors confirmed the toddler has a brain contusion and has been placed in a medically induced coma.
Reports also indicate he suffered fractures to his skull and spine, and a closed head injury.
So far, medical staff have not been able to bring him out of the coma.
Family’s Background and Heartbreaking Situation
This young family had fled war-torn Iran, seeking refuge in Russia.
The boy’s mother, Hajizada Sahar, explained in an interview with RT that they traveled to Moscow via Afghanistan and hold Russian passports.
She shared her heartbreak, saying her son’s condition remains very poor.
Kseniya Mishonova, the children’s ombudsman for the Moscow region, added that the boy’s mother is currently pregnant.
Mishonova emphasized that although the brain wasn’t directly affected, the toddler sustained serious skull fractures and is under close medical supervision.
