The summer transfer window is always full of surprises, and this year, Bayern Munich are reportedly setting their sights on a key figure from Arsenal’s starting XI.
Yes, the Bundesliga giants are getting serious about reshaping their attack—and one familiar Premier League name has landed on their radar.
Martinelli Among Bayern’s Top Targets
According to new reports out of Germany, Bayern Munich are working from a five-man shortlist as they look to strengthen their frontline.
One of the surprise inclusions? Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli.
German journalist Christian Falk, writing for Bild, says Martinelli has emerged as a serious option for the Bavarian club after they missed out on signing Florian Wirtz, who is now Liverpool-bound.
While nothing is finalized yet, it’s clear Bayern are keeping their options open—and Martinelli is firmly in the conversation.
Arsenal Open to Offers but Not on the Cheap
Interestingly, Arsenal may be open to listening to offers for Martinelli—but it’s not going to come cheap.
The club is reportedly aiming to reduce its wage bill this summer, and Martinelli could be one of several players they consider moving on.
According to The Athletic, any serious offer would need to exceed £50 million to get Arsenal’s attention.
Martinelli’s current contract runs until 2027, with the Gunners also holding the option to extend it by another year, which gives them strong leverage in negotiations.
Bayern’s Other Options Include Premier League and La Liga Stars
Martinelli isn’t the only name on Bayern’s wishlist.
They’re also believed to be monitoring Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams, although he seems more likely to end up at Barcelona.
Meanwhile, Liverpool’s Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo are on the list too, as is Borussia Dortmund youngster Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, who has also been linked with Chelsea.
Arsenal’s Summer Clear-Out in the Works?
The Times recently suggested that Arsenal are planning a squad reshuffle, with several fringe players potentially heading for the exit.
Alongside Martinelli, names like Oleksandr Zinchenko, Reiss Nelson, Jakub Kiwior, Fabio Vieira, and Albert Sambi Lokonga could all be part of a wider summer clear-out.
Martinelli’s Loyalty Remains Strong… for Now
Despite the rumours swirling, Martinelli has shown no signs of wanting to leave the Emirates.
Just a few months ago in April, the Brazilian winger made his feelings clear: “This is my home,” he said. “I love to be here. I love the club.”
With 225 appearances, 51 goals, and 29 assists since joining from Brazilian side Ituano for just £5 million back in 2019, Martinelli has certainly made an impact.
But with Bayern knocking and Arsenal reconsidering their roster, his future might not be as certain as it once seemed.
