In a disturbing incident, a recently married couple fell victim to abduction in the Madabanciya community, located in the Bungudu local government area of Zamfara State.

The assailants, believed to be armed gunmen, reportedly infiltrated the village on foot around 11.45 pm on Sunday, strategically leaving their motorcycles outside the town to evade detection.

Brazen Attack Unleashed by Gunmen

Eyewitness Ibrahim Sani, a resident of the area, recounted the nightmarish scenario, revealing that the well-armed assailants, numbering in large groups, unleashed chaos by firing sophisticated weapons indiscriminately upon their arrival.

Sani described the assailants’ modus operandi, highlighting their systematic search for food items and valuables as they traversed from house to house.

Newlyweds Targeted in Forest-bound Kidnapping

Amidst the wave of terror, the gunmen crossed paths with a newly married couple in the village.

The bandits, displaying a brazen disregard for lives, reportedly abducted the couple and vanished into the forest.

The incident underscores the vulnerability of the region to security threats, compounded by the absence of security agents dedicated to safeguarding the lives and property of the villagers.

Community Pleads for Urgent Security Intervention

Expressing his concern, Ibrahim Sani implored authorities to swiftly deploy security personnel to the area, emphasizing the urgency of the situation.

He highlighted the precarious living conditions faced by the residents and warned that without timely intervention, relocation might become the only viable option for the community.

Sani detailed the extent of the bandits’ plunder, citing stolen animals, food items, and various valuables.

As of the report, the Zamfara State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Yazid Abubakar, is yet to provide an official comment on the incident.
