Thabang Monare of the Orlando Pirates has replied to criticism over his Bafana Bafana selection over Andile Jali of Mamelodi Sundowns.

Jali’s exclusion from the newest Bafana Bafana team, which will face both Ivory Coast and France, caused some consternation, and Hugo Broos’ comments only added to the confusion.

Jali isn’t the type of player Broos needs in his Bafana Bafana team, according to him. Monare, two years younger than the Sundowns midfielder, fits the bill.

Now, asked how he feels about the noise made by football fans around his inclusion in the Bafana Bafana squad, Monare said his job is on the pitch.

The Pirates anchorman added that he doesn’t pay too much attention on what’s been said about him either in the media or on social media.

Monare respects everyone’s opinion regarding his selection and Jali’s exclusion, but admitted there is nothing he can do about it except for representing Bafana Bafana the best possible way he can.

“My job is on the field. I don’t dwell too much what is happening in the media or on social media,” Monare told reporters in Dobsonville.

“I feel like people have a right to their opinion, and I also have a right to my opinion but it doesn’t really matter to some other people.”

“My job is to represent my country on the field, not on social media. I really don’t look at those things. My focus now is to represent my country well, the best way that I can and we move forward,” concluded Monare.
