Bafana Bafana face defending Fifa World Cup Champions France in a blockbuster friendly international on Tuesday evening.

Bafana have claimed one victory, a remarkable 2-1 win at the 2010 Fifa World Cup while France earned a 3-0 win at the 1998 World Cup. A friendly match in 2000 ended in a goalless draw.

Take a look at which players featured in the last meeting between the two teams which ended in a 2-1 victory in favour of South Africa and enjoy the highlights below.

Goals by Bongani Khumalo and Katlego Mphela were enough to earn an impressive victory in Bloemfontein. Florent Malouda grabbed the solitary goal for France on the day.

Hugo Broos happy to face World Champions France!

“For me these are important games, they are difficult games, but I asked for difficult games because I’ve been told that in the past it was not usually for Bafana Bafana to play tough friendly games,” Broos told reporters.

“It was always against, if I can say that, weak opponents and we were sure even before the game that they were going to win it.

“I think we are not sure if we are going to win these next two games but it will be a very good experience for all the players.

“And for me, it will be a good opportunity to see the new Bafana Bafana players, if they are really an improvement for us, if they can bring the power and the experience that I expect.

“I want to see these players out there and showing their quality so that they can be there in June and that we will have a stronger team than that we had for the World Cup qualifiers.

“I hope the games we are playing right now will give us what we expect and I’m sure we will be stronger Afcon qualifiers and that we will be there in Ivory Coast for the tournament.”

Bafana’s friendly against the reigning world champions France on Tuesday, 29 March at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy has been sold out.

The match will kick off at 21:15 SAST. While there’s no confirmation on broadcast details just yet, reports suggest the match will be live streamed on SABCSport’s various online platforms.
