Axed Kaizer Chiefs coach opens up on key ISSUE at the club!

Former Kaizer Chiefs head coach Gavin Hunt believes it’s high time the club got rid of their aging stars.

Hunt believes that the biggest problem at Naturena is management’s desire to hold onto players that are well beyond their best days.

The likes of Ituemeleng Khune, Eric Mathoho, Daniel Cardoso have struggled to replicate the form that once saw them lift the coveted PSL title and Hunt believes it’s time for a complete overhaul.

The former Bidvest Wits coach joined Kaizer Chiefs in 2020 with high expectations however the combination ultimately failed to work out and abruptly came to an end.

Despite guiding the Glamour Boys to a record CAF Champions League knockout stages, Gavin Hunt was sacked by the club in May 2021.

Hunt remained rather quiet about his abrupt divorce from the Naturena based club, until now! Take a look at what he had to say about Kaizer Chiefs below!

“I had been watching Kaizer Chiefs for the last six years from outside, and they needed a change. They needed a change, not in coaching but in personnel,” Hunt told DiskiTalk in a recent interview.

“The players I got were there when they won the league seven years ago. I am not saying they are not good players, but because the legs are not going to be there, the energy and the desire will not be there. Every team needs a revival.

“The job of a coach is not to coach the team alone, it is to watch the team, and see who is dropping the standards, who is training at a level they should not be training, and every day that is my job.

“Besides coaching and tactics, every day I watch the body language and the desire to win. That’s more of what I look at as a coach.”
