In an astonishing turn of events, Gregory Hill, an award-winning headteacher from Norfolk, was filmed struggling with police officers outside Howard Junior School in King’s Lynn.
The incident unfolded in front of shocked parents and students after Hill was arrested on charges of harassment and resisting arrest.
Hill, 48, had been repeatedly messaging Chloe Regester, a 24-year-old trainee teacher, seeking a romantic relationship.
Despite her clear rejections over the span of a year, he continued to harass her.
The situation escalated when Hill made derogatory comments about Regester’s sexuality and even insulted her partner and clothing.
On March 12 last year, two female officers arrived at the school to arrest Hill after receiving a complaint.
Footage from their body cameras captures Hill’s refusal to cooperate.
He argued with the officers, laying on the ground and claiming they were breaking his arm. Despite their attempts to calm him and explain the situation, Hill continued to resist, shouting about his supposed mistreatment.
The trial revealed Hill’s disturbing behavior towards Regester from March 2022 to February of the following year.
He even demanded that she accompany him to Sandringham for five consecutive days, highlighting his persistent and inappropriate advances. Messages between them showed his professed love and Regester’s clear discomfort and rejection.
Regester testified that Hill’s behavior made her feel scared and overwhelmed, especially after spotting him taking photos of her car.
She described the relentless nature of his messages and his fixation on her personal life, which led her to document their interactions and seek help from senior staff.
Other Accusations and Trial Details
During the trial, other teachers came forward with their own unsettling experiences with Hill.
They described inappropriate comments and actions that made them feel uncomfortable.
Hill’s defense, however, claimed that the accusations were part of a conspiracy against him, arguing that Regester’s behavior was inconsistent and that the complaints were part of a scheme to damage his reputation.
Verdict and Aftermath
Hill was found guilty of harassment and resisting arrest.
The judge criticized his behavior during the arrest as bizarre and noted his tendency to focus on his achievements rather than addressing the charges. Regester expressed relief that justice had been served, emphasizing her desire to prevent others from experiencing similar situations.
School’s Response
Following the incident, Howard Junior School, which was rated ‘inadequate’ by Ofsted in March, became part of the Eastern Multi-academy Trust.
Hill’s sentencing is yet to be determined, but the case has highlighted serious concerns about abuse of power and professional conduct in educational settings.
