The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA has shutdown Globacom telecommunication service tower over the non payment of outstanding dept of 4.
7 billion Naira in Abuja Nigeria’s Capital.
The Director General of NCAA Captain Musa Nuhu said they have started switching off the tower before further action if the telecommunication company did not make any move to clear the dept
Captain Nuhu stated that all the other telecommunications service providers are paying except the Globacom limited Company, which have not being paid since 2007 until recently the company paid only 500 Million out of the 5.
2 billion owing, with the outstanding dept of 4.
7 billion Naira.
“My Agency is under tremendous pressure by the Migerian Government, and Globacom limited supposed to be paying tax to Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, we have contacted and negotiated with them severely they have ignored us until recently when the paid 500 million and the Government had mandated all the federal agencies to recover all dept both at the executive and legislative levels
“Globacom limited is not cooperating and we have the authority to shutdown their facilities and we are starting by switching off a couple of their tower, until the make payment and if they did not pay we are going to implemente our full power granted to us under the Civil Aviation Act to take all measures legitimately to recover our dept as we are empowered to do so.
“The NCAA Provide the safety of the airspace to know the location of each telecommunications service tower accordingly so that we can have flight safety and the process entails payment of some fees by any telecommunications service Providers.
The management of the Globacom telecommunication limited is yet to respond to the action taken by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority against them.
