In a shooting in Tel Aviv’s city center on Thursday, at least two people were killed and four others were critically injured, the latest in a series of incidents in which 13 people have been slain in the past month, the highest increase in Israel in years.
Armed officers were seen sprinting down Dizengoff Route, a major commercial street, and smaller side streets in an attempt to apprehend the perpetrator.
From above, a police helicopter shone a floodlight on the streets.
Two persons were murdered, according to an Israeli hospital spokesman.

The Magen David Adom ambulance service said it had taken six persons to the hospital with significant injuries.
A large number of emergency personnel arrived on the area, and police advised locals to remain indoors as they searched for the gunman.
“A terrorist opened fire from a short distance before fleeing on foot.” Several people have been injured, according to police spokesperson Eli Levy, who spoke to Channel 13 news.
“Do not leave your residences.” Don’t look out the window with your heads out the window. “Avoid your balconies,” he said.
