Ann Marie Cash fined £25,000 for committing more than 30 speeding offences in just three months

In barely three months, a lady committed more than 30 speeding violations, for which she was fined £25,000.

After being found guilty of 33 different speeding offenses around south Wales, Ann Marie Cash received 18 points, $25,646 in penalties, and an 18-month driving ban.

Between August and October 2021, a Nissan X Trail driven by Cash with Irish license plates was involved in 33 speeding incidents in the jurisdiction of the South Wales Police, including 30 on Rumney Hill and Newport Road and one each on Greenway Road, North Road, and the intersection of Newport Road and Rover Way.

An investigation was started by GoSafe and field enquiry officers were alerted to the car being stopped for displaying false plates. It had then been seized as it had no insurance and the driver had no license.

After GoSafe determined the right registration and address for the automobile, all 33 notifications of imminent prosecution were issued to Cash. All offenses were reported to Cardiff Magistrates’ Court after no one replied to the letters. Later, Cash of Llanrumney got in touch with the court and admitted to the offenses.

Cash was invited to the hearing but declined owing to the prospect of being disqualified, thus the matter was heard without her on May 23 at Cardiff Magistrates Court. All 33 offenses were found to be true, and each one came with a £660 punishment plus court fees and victim surcharges.

The offences were not consolidated and the court ordered each offence to be paid, meaning the total costs were a £21,780 fine, £3,610 costs and a £256 victim surcharge. Cash also received 18 points and an 18-month disqualification from driving.
