Anambra NLC Chairman Nnubia Bows Out Of Service, Hands Over To Orizu

The Anambra State Chairman of the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, Comrade Jerry Nnubia has stepped down from his position as Chairman Nigeria Labour Congress, Anambra State, following his retirement from civil service.


Comrade Nnubia who mounted the saddle as the Chairman of NLC, Anambra State in April 2015, handed over to one of the Vice Chairmen of the apex Labour Union, Comrade Chinwe Orizu to complete the tenure of the present State Administrative Council of the Congress which will elapse in April 2023.

Comrade Nnubia who stepped down and handed over to Comrade Orizu during an emergency meeting of the State Executive Council of the NLC in Awka, said his resignation followed the constitution of NLC and has been ratified by the National office of the congress.


Speaking to members of the State Executive Council which comprise of the State Administrative Council and Chairmen and Secretaries of affiliate Labour unions, Comrade Nnubia asked them to give the new Chairman their unalloyed support to move the congress forward while promising to always give his advice whenever he is called upon by the executive.

In an acceptance speech, the new State Chairman of NLC, Comrade Orizu, thanked the members of the State Administrative and Executive Council for finding her worthy to step into the position and congratulated Comrade Nnubia for his successful time in office for over six years and over twenty-three years in Labour union leadership, praying God to favour him in his future endeavors.

She said that as the Chairman of the Congress in the State, she is only a servant and needs the support of all the members of the congress to move the interests of the workers forward, promising to sustain the current unity that has been in the Union in the past seven years.


Contributing, the Assistant Secretary of NLC in the State, Prince Emeka Kalu who is also the National Vice President of the Radio, Television and Theatre Art Workers Union, RATTAWU, South East Zone, congratulated the former NLC Chairman and the new Chairman for the successful transition and underscored that the Anambra State Government enjoyed a peaceful Labour relation under the present executive council of NLC.
