An incoming southbound 7 train hits a 20-year-old woman at Grand Central

A 20-year-old woman was killed after falling onto the subway rails at New York City’s Grand Central Station after a conductor was unable to stop in time as the train rolled into the station.

The woman, who is yet unnamed, was killed on Tuesday just before 11 p.m. when she was hit by an approaching southbound 7 train.

The victim’s name has not yet been made public since the family has not been notified, the NYPD told DailyMail.com on Wednesday.

According to police, the train driver attempted to brake in time to avoid hitting the woman but was unable to do so.

The woman was pulled out from under the train by firefighters and EMTs, but about an hour later, she was declared dead, according to the New York Post.

On the platform, many firefighters could be seen reaching between the silver subway car and the station’s bright yellow safety strip while carrying medical supplies that were lying on the ground.

According to Citizen, the train tracks’ power was turned off not long after the cops got on the site.

Uncertainty surrounds the woman’s fall onto the rails, but according to NBC New York, no crime is suspected.

How the FDNY was able to bring her body out from under the train is also a mystery.

Due to the sad event, the 7 train was momentarily suspended between 34 St-Hudson Yards and Hunters Point Avenue, causing delays in both ways.
