Amusement park ride malfunctions, sends over a dozen riders 50 feet to the ground

The 50-foot tall attraction was carrying about 50 passengers, according to the English-language local publication the Business Standard. As of Sunday night, no fatalities had been reported.

The Hindustan Times reported that several children as young as 10 years old were being treated at Fortis Hospital, a medical facility near the fair.

According to witnesses at the exhibition, several publications, including NDTV and the Hindustan Times, stated that there were no ambulances on standby at the event.

According to the Hindustan Times, fair organizers blamed a “technical glitch” for the mishap and pledged to work with law enforcement.

The outlet quoted Mohali Police Deputy Commissioner Amit Talwar as saying that officials will begin an inquiry and take “stern measures.” According to numerous sites, police claimed that although the event was meant to end on Sunday, organizers had been granted an extension until September 11.

The Mohali police deputy commissioner’s office did not immediately respond to Insider’s request for comment.
