Akwa Ibom Governor Acknowledges Supreme Court Ruling on Tinubu’s Election Victory

Governor Pastor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has responded to the Supreme Court’s ruling that confirmed Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the rightful winner of the presidential election held on February 25th.

Supreme Court Upholds Tinubu’s Victory

Notably, Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Peter Obi of the Labour Party, had previously challenged the Independence National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal’s assertion that Tinubu emerged as the victor in the closely contested election.

Governor Eno’s Reaction and Congratulations

In a statement issued on Friday, Governor Pastor Eno extended his congratulations to President Tinubu on his triumph at the Supreme Court.

He noted that with the Supreme Court’s decision, all the legal disputes surrounding the President’s victory in the February 25, 2023 elections had been resolved.

Commitment to Development and Unity

Although Akwa Ibom State is traditionally a PDP stronghold, Governor Eno pledged to align his government with Tinubu’s administration to foster development in the state.

He made this commitment during a “Thank You Meeting” with Christian Leaders in the State.

Governor’s Assurance of Prosperity

Governor Eno reassured the gathering of his dedication to lead a united and prosperous Akwa Ibom State.

He acknowledged the economic challenges the country is currently facing due to the removal of oil subsidy and expressed his administration’s commitment to managing resources efficiently for the benefit of the people.

Call for Church Unity

Governor Eno urged the church community to remain united, emphasizing that divisive ethnic or political sentiments should not infiltrate the church.

He stressed the importance of building a united church to counteract divisive forces.

Christian Association of Nigeria’s Support

Bishop Christian Nyong, the State Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), expressed the church community’s appreciation for Governor Eno’s leadership.

He affirmed that the meeting represented various segments of the church community and would foster greater support for the present administration led by one of their own.

Conclusion:

The call for church unity and support for the present administration is emphasized, as well as the positive response from the Christian leaders in the state.

This case reflects the significance of political and regional dynamics in Nigerian governance and the role of unity within the church community.
