Afro Nation, the world’s largest Afrobeats festival, has cancelled its much-anticipated concert in Nigeria. The festival was scheduled to take place at Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos State on December 19-20, 2023.

In a statement released on October 31, 2023, Afro Nation co-founder Smade announced the cancellation of the festival.

The statement said that the organizers were “unable to deliver a show of the quality that Nigeria deserves in December 2023.”

Smade also apologized to fans for the cancellation, saying that the festival “loves Miami and Detroit, but Nigeria holds a special place in our hearts, and we are devastated that we will not be able to celebrate with you this year.”

Smade also promised that Afro Nation is “188% committed to producing an Afro Nation show in Lagos that we can all be proud of.”

He did not give a specific date for when the festival would return to Nigeria, but said that the organizers are “working hard to make it happen as soon as possible.”

Afro Nation Offers Full Refunds to Ticket Holders

Afro Nation is offering full refunds to all ticket holders.

Ticket buyers do not need to do anything to receive a refund, but will receive an email with information outlining the refund process.
