Tori Spelling recently opened up about a memorable chapter in her life that cemented her understanding of her sexuality.
On a recent episode of her Misspelling podcast, the actress, now 51, shared her thoughts on the “one and only” threesome she had in the past.
Discovering Her Preferences
During the conversation, Spelling got candid about her first ménage à trois, which involved herself, a male, and a female.
This encounter took place in 1995, while she was filming the Beverly Hills, 90210 season 6 finale aboard the iconic Queen Mary in Long Beach, California.
At the time, she and her castmates were staying on the ship for a few days while working on the project.
Spelling confessed that the experience helped her realize something important about herself: she’s “definitely into boys.”
Reflecting on the threesome, she admitted it didn’t live up to her expectations, explaining that it felt much different than the fun, playful kissing she’d previously engaged in with female co-stars just to provoke reactions from men.
The Threesome That Left Her Uncomfortable
Though she had kissed several female castmates on 90210, Spelling shared that she never had any genuine interest in exploring relationships with women beyond those playful moments.
She described feeling nervous and anxious throughout the threesome, which didn’t sit right with her.
“The boy wanted it and I played along,” she said.
“But I don’t think at any point he was like, ‘Oh, my god’—because he would never have gone forward with it if I had spoken up.”
Despite her discomfort, she reassured herself, saying, “I feel safe with this human. I feel safe with this female human.”
Looking back, Spelling added humorously, “I always say you gotta try anything once,” suggesting that while the experience wasn’t for her, she was open to trying new things.
Flashbacks to 90210 Days
The conversation then shifted to her time on Beverly Hills, 90210.
Spelling recalled the many playful kisses she shared with her female co-stars, often to elicit surprised reactions from the guys.
“It was just fun and games,” she laughed.
“It got the boys every time. The looks on their faces—priceless!”
Spelling reminisced about the times she and her co-stars would lock lips for fun, then run off to the bathroom laughing and crying, discussing the reactions they’d gotten.
It was all about playful moments and camaraderie among the castmates.
A Steamy Makeout with Colin Farrell
In addition to discussing her 90210 experiences, Spelling also spilled the beans on a memorable makeout session she had with one of Hollywood’s biggest stars, Colin Farrell.
She shared the story of how, despite being engaged to Charlie Shanian at the time, she found herself locking lips with Farrell in an unexpected and spontaneous encounter.
“I walked right up to him. We looked at each other, and we just started making out,” Spelling recalled, adding that it was a moment she had checked off her bucket list after some flirtatious eye contact years prior.
A Rollercoaster Love Life
Though she kissed Farrell, Spelling eventually married Shanian in 2004.
However, their marriage ended after she met Dean McDermott in 2005 while filming Mind Over Murder.
McDermott, who was married to Mary Jo Eustace at the time, eventually divorced and married Spelling in 2006.
Together, they had five children—Liam, Stella, Hattie, Finn, and Beau.
After 18 years of marriage, Spelling and McDermott announced their split in June 2023.
McDermott shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, expressing sadness over the end of their relationship but reassuring fans that they would continue to co-parent their children lovingly.
