Aaron Beck, 37, dies by suicide after his 18-month-old son, Anderson Beck, died in an overheated car in Virginia on June 28

According to an obituary, the father from Virginia who committed himself after discovering his toddler son dead in the backseat of his car after accidentally leaving him behind and going to work “sacrificed his life to his kid in an act of love.”

On June 28, after discovering his kid dead in the vehicle, Aaron Beck, 37, shot himself in the head in the woods behind his Midlothian home.

Police were notified by the boy’s relatives that he had failed to arrive for daycare. After hearing from the family that Aaron had made suicide remarks, police went to the house.

‘Upon their arrival, they located the people in the driveway with an open door with an empty child seat in the vehicle. As they made entry into the residence, they found a deceased 18-month-old,’ Chesterfield Police Lt. Col. Christopher Hensley said on June 28.

The father was found shortly after, where the family said he would be. Officers speculated that Aaron went to work in the morning for three hours and forgot to drop his son off at daycare during an ongoing heatwave. Temperatures in the area reached a high of 80F on the day they died.

Aaron committed suicide, a coroner revealed to DailyMail.com. The reason of the child’s death has not yet been established.

According to an obituary on Legacy.com, “Anderson and Aaron’s lives were intertwined in life and death.” “[Aaron] gave his life for his kid in a supreme gesture of love and devotion.”

The young child is regarded as the “brightest light that united his family.”

The obituary states, “He was a lovely, gregarious, and bright little child who lived in a household that was full of love and hope.”

The obituary describes Aaron as a man for whom his job was significant but not the main focus of his life. ‘ He claims that “being a parent and raising a family” is his “greatest goal.”

His son Anderson was the object of his most intense devotion; he showed him boundless affection. With his son, he was giving, kind, considerate, and gentle. The memorial states that “his unselfish love was a monument to the potential of parenting and the capabilities of the heart.”

According to Lauren Riegel, Aaron’s step sister, a GoFundMe has been set up by the couple’s family.

‘Aaron was an amazing father and husband to his wonderful wife, Laura,’ she wrote.

‘She is completely shattered and has a long tough road ahead of her.’
