A Stowaway Hen Travels 25 Miles in the Back of a Lorry from Hartwell to Irthlingborough in a Real-Life Chicken Run Adventure

In an unusual turn of events, a determined hen embarked on a 25-mile journey after hitching a ride in the back of a lorry.

The chicken’s adventure took it from a farm in Hartwell, Northamptonshire, all the way to Irthlingborough before it was finally spotted and rescued.

This feathered stowaway’s escapade seemed like something straight out of the animated movie Chicken Run.

The Unexpected Stowaway

The hen’s journey began when it climbed into a trailer parked at a farm in Hartwell.

Unnoticed, it traveled a remarkable 25 miles, making its way down the A45 at speeds of 56 mph, heading towards Irthlingborough.

It wasn’t until the chicken was spotted running around a cul-de-sac that anyone realized what had happened.

The Rescue Mission

A resident who saw the hen wandering asked nearby road maintenance workers if it belonged to them.

Luke Stinson, one of the workers, shared how he and the resident ended up chasing the chicken around the cul-de-sac.

After a bit of a runaround, they managed to catch the hen and safely place it in the lorry’s cab.

“I just can’t believe it – it’s a 25-mile drive,” Luke said in disbelief.

A Surprising Meal and a Return Home

As a thank-you for its long journey, Luke shared his tuna sandwich with the hen and gave it some water from his tea mug.

Once the hen was cared for, the team took it back to the farm where it belonged.

It may have had quite the adventure, but this little chicken was finally back home, ready to rest after its eventful trip.
