Fire Destroys RSK Adebowale Multipurpose Filling Station and Tanker in Ofiki Saki Oyo State Nigeria Leaving Residents Shocked

Residents of the Ofiki area in Saki, Oyo State, were left in shock on Tuesday as a massive fire tore through the RSK Adebowale Multipurpose Filling Station.

The blaze didn’t just destroy the station itself—it also consumed a petrol tanker and a motorcycle parked nearby.

The incident quickly became the focus of emergency response teams in the area, highlighting the dangers of fuel-related accidents and the importance of fire safety.

Fire Services Respond Promptly

According to Mr. Moroof Akinwande, Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Services Agency, the agency was alerted about the fire through a distress call from Alhaji Mufutau Badmus, who serves as the Saki Branch Chairman of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria.

Once the call came in, firemen led by Mr. Kolade Taiwo rushed to the scene.

On arrival, they were met with a terrifying sight: the filling station, a DAF tanker carrying 50,000 litres of petrol, a Bajaj motorcycle, and three fuel pumps were already engulfed in flames.

Fire Contained and Damage Controlled

Despite the intensity of the blaze, fire personnel were able to bring it under control and extinguish it completely, preventing further destruction to neighboring properties.

Akinwande also praised the Ofiki Division personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, who were present to secure the area and support the firefighting efforts.

He took the opportunity to remind all filling station operators across Oyo State to strictly adhere to fire safety protocols to prevent such disasters in the future.

A Pattern of Fire Incidents in the State

Tragically, this isn’t the first time a fire has wreaked havoc on a filling station in Oyo State this month.

On January 9, a fire in the Kara area of Kishi, Irepo Local Government Area, destroyed property worth millions of naira.

That incident involved three vehicles and a community power house, igniting after an explosion set nearby combustible materials alight.

Eyewitnesses reported that the blaze spread rapidly, leaving devastation in its wake and once again highlighting the critical need for stringent fire safety measures around fuel facilities.
