If you’re a fan of South African soccer, you might want to keep an eye on Zakhele Lepasa.
The former Orlando Pirates forward might be packing his bags for Durban soon.
Durban City FC—the newcomers in the Betway Premiership—are reportedly interested in signing him to strengthen their attack ahead of the upcoming season.
A New Chapter After Several Top-Flight Clubs
At 28 years old, Lepasa’s career has already seen him play for some of South Africa’s top teams.
Starting from TS Galaxy to SuperSport United and most notably Orlando Pirates, this could be his fourth club in the top tier.
A move to Durban City FC would mark a fresh start for the Soweto-born attacker, who’s eager to make an impact.
Durban City FC Has Made Its Interest Clear
Farouk Kadodia, chairman of Durban City FC (previously known as Maritzburg United), revealed that talks with Lepasa’s representatives have begun.
“We are interested in Zakhele Lepasa,” Kadodia confirmed, signaling the club’s ambition to bolster their squad with experienced players.
Orlando Pirates Make Other Moves as Well
Meanwhile, Orlando Pirates continue to adjust their squad.
After selling Mohau Nkota to Saudi Arabian side Al-Ettifaq following just one season, the Buccaneers are also promoting exciting young talent.
Neo Mokoena, a winger from their DStv Diski Challenge reserve team, impressed enough during training with the senior team to earn a spot in the first team for the new season.
What Does This Mean for the Season Ahead?
With fresh signings and emerging stars, both Durban City FC and Orlando Pirates are gearing up for an exciting Betway Premiership campaign. Will Lepasa’s arrival in Durban give the rookies a boost? Can the Buccaneers leverage their youth talent to win another trophy?
