It’s not often that Claudia Winkleman gives fans a glimpse into her personal life, but the beloved BBC presenter made a delightful exception this week.
The Strictly Come Dancing star was all smiles as she stepped onto the red carpet alongside her rarely-seen husband, Kris Thykier, for the premiere of Is This Thing On during the 2025 BFI London Film Festival.
Both 53, the couple looked effortlessly stylish and deeply at ease in each other’s company — a sight that thrilled fans who rarely see them together in public.
A Stylish Moment on the Red Carpet
Claudia brought her signature cool-girl style to the event, wearing a brown tweed blazer paired with long, flared tailored trousers that exuded quiet elegance.
The presenter, who’s been dominating television this autumn with The Celebrity Traitors and Strictly Come Dancing, seemed to be enjoying a well-earned night off with her husband.
Kris, a respected film producer, looked equally polished by her side as the two posed for photos, proving once again that their relationship is as grounded as it is glamorous.
A Love Story That Has Stood the Test of Time
Claudia and Kris have been married for 25 years, having tied the knot back in June 2000.
Together, they’ve built a loving family with their three children — Jake, 22, Matilda, 19, and Arthur, 14.
When asked about the secret to their long-lasting marriage, Claudia once shared a piece of wisdom she borrowed from Bruce Paltrow, father of actress Gwyneth Paltrow.
“He was asked if he ever wanted to get divorced, and he said, ‘Sure, but never at the same time.’ Best. Line. Ever,” Claudia recalled, adding, “I feel incredibly lucky.”
The Secret to Their Strong Partnership
Although she’s famously private about her home life, Claudia has given a few glimpses into what makes her marriage tick.
She describes Kris as “incredibly Scandi” in his attitude — calm, equal, and quietly thoughtful.
“He’s never said, ‘What’s for dinner?’ It’s always, ‘What are we having for dinner? Should I make something?’” she explained in an interview. “It’s a tiny inflection, but it’s different.
He never asks, ‘When do the kids go back to school?’ — he just looks it up.
His whole family’s the same.”
It’s clear that their marriage is built on mutual respect, teamwork, and plenty of shared responsibility.
Balancing Fame, Family, and a Busy Schedule
Despite juggling two major TV roles, Claudia insists her husband is the true rock of the family.
She once joked that Kris is a better parent than she is.
“We share everything, and when one of us is snowed under, the other steps up,” she said.
“He knows that in the lead-up to the Strictly final, I’m useless — so he’ll handle Christmas shopping for all the nieces and nephews.”
When it comes to affection, Claudia admits she’s not the most demonstrative one in the relationship.
“I’m not romantic at all — he’s much more romantic than me, the poor guy!” she laughed.
A Mum Who Can’t Help Being Overprotective
Away from the spotlight, Claudia takes her role as a mum seriously — sometimes a little too seriously, if you ask her kids.
During an interview with the Daily Mail in 2023, she admitted she tends to hover around them when she’s not filming.
“For ten months of the year, I’m not doing Strictly, so I just follow the children around,” she said, laughing.
“They tell me, ‘Mum, give us some space,’ and I say, ‘No.’ I’m awful. I get it from my mum.”
Her mother, Eve Pollard, the former newspaper editor, is clearly where Claudia inherited her energetic spirit.
The Everyday Star Who Keeps It Real
Despite being one of the UK’s most recognizable presenters, Claudia insists she’s far from famous in her day-to-day life.
“I get on the Tube all the time, but I’ve never been recognized,” she shared. “Never in my life.”
For someone who lights up millions of living rooms each weekend, Claudia’s refreshingly grounded outlook — paired with her witty honesty — is exactly why fans adore her.
Whether she’s dazzling on Strictly or joking about her parenting mishaps, she continues to prove that being real never goes out of style.
