Tottenham Hotspur is urging fans traveling to Istanbul for their Europa League match against Galatasaray on Thursday to stay vigilant amid the tense atmosphere following a recent terror attack in Turkey.

The club has been in touch with the British embassy to warn supporters of heightened security measures in the Turkish capital.

Recent Attack Heightens Security Concerns

On October 23, a tragic attack on the Turkish Aerospace Industries headquarters near Ankara left seven people dead and more than 20 others injured.

The attack, which occurred just days before Tottenham’s European match, has amplified concerns for the safety of Spurs supporters.

Over 2,000 fans are expected to attend the game, and with the ongoing tensions from the terror threat, the war in the Middle East, and the club’s Jewish heritage, the situation is particularly sensitive.

Increased Security Measures and Flag Policy

Tottenham is advising its fans to remain patient as they prepare for strict security checks before entering the stadium.

The club has also emphasized its flag policy for the match.

All flags brought into the stadium must receive prior approval from both Galatasaray and local police, and they must come with a fire certificate.

Spurs’ Reminder on Conduct and Allegiances

The club has made it clear that football matches should remain focused on team support, not political or religious expressions.

“A football match is a time to show allegiance to your team above all,” Spurs stated in their guidance.

They also warned fans that flags linked to political or religious movements, or those that could be seen as provocative, would not be allowed, including national flags tied to ongoing political conflicts or issues.

As tensions rise, Tottenham is encouraging fans to prioritize safety and respect during their time in Istanbul.
