Police Spokesperson Announces Special Intervention Squad’s Action Against Kidnappings in FCT
In a bid to address the surge in kidnapping incidents plaguing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the Nigeria Police Force’s Special Intervention Squad (SIS) conducted a show of force exercise on Wednesday night.
The initiative, aimed at restoring normalcy in the country’s capital, was revealed by the Police Force’s spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, via an official tweet.
Warm Reception from Residents as SIS Takes to the Streets
Residents expressed contentment as the SIS operatives engaged in the show of force and confidence-building operations, particularly in the Bwari area and other communities within the Bwari Local Government Area (LGA) of the FCT.
Adejobi highlighted the positive reception from residents, emphasizing the ongoing efforts to assume control of these areas and restore a sense of security.
Inspector-General of Police Initiates Special Intervention Squad
The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has taken decisive action in response to the escalating kidnappings.
The imminent introduction of the Special Intervention Squad (SIS) is set to encompass all the Area councils within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
This move comes amid a series of assaults on Bwari residents, leading to multiple abductions and tragic loss of life.
SIS Operations to Cover Entire FCT
As the SIS gears up for special operations, the coverage extends across all the Area councils in the FCT.
The initiative aims to combat the activities of kidnappers causing chaos and distress within various regions of the Federal Capital Territory.
Recent Kidnappings Prompt Nighttime Vigilance
Bwari residents have faced a string of assaults by kidnappers, resulting in the abduction of numerous community members.
Tragically, these incidents have led to loss of life, with families experiencing delays in ransom payments.
The show of force exercise by the SIS serves as a proactive measure to address the prevailing security concerns and reinforce the safety of residents in the FCT.
