Under the aegis of Peter Obi Support Network (POSN), A group says it will raise six billion naira and 250 journalists and bloggers for the presidential bid of the former governor of Anambra State, Mr Peter Obi.

The group said the money would go into hiring a private jet for Obi to tour the country with his campaign message and funding the former governor’s media budget.

According to a press statement made available by the group coordinator, Mr Daniel Elombah, to journalists on Tuesday, the group comprised Nigerians in the diaspora and those living in the country.

He also speaks about the mission of the group. “The Peter Obi Support Network is crowdfunding for Peter Obi’s presidential campaign because they are worried that Mr Obi appears to have no formidable mobilisation structure on the ground.

“As you all know, running for President in Nigeria is way beyond social media. He needs to hit the ground running, so POSN has come to the rescue.

“POSN comprises Nigerians in Nigeria and in the diaspora who have come together to contribute both personal efforts and contribute financial resources to help with the expenses of Mr Peter Obi’s presidential campaigns, given a belief that he is the most suited to lead Nigeria.

“POSN aims to raise 6 billion naira for Peter Obi. Peter needs a hired private jet for 14 days to crisscross the 36 states of the country and Abuja to meet the national delegates to solicit votes. Peter Obi needs the media.

“POSN will use every money raised to finance the two activities,” part of the statement reads.
