Sometimes, the internet gives us a crossover we didn’t know we needed — and that’s exactly what happened when YouTube sensation IShowSpeed teamed up with former football stars Jamie Carragher and Micah Richards for a hilarious, slightly chaotic day that fans won’t forget anytime soon.
The 20-year-old American content creator, whose real name is Darren Jason Watkins Jr., has nearly 40 million subscribers and is known for his unfiltered energy and deep love for one man: Cristiano Ronaldo.
So when he joined two of football’s most recognizable pundits from CBS Sports, things were bound to get interesting — and a little spicy.
Ronaldo Talk Gets Real in a Car Ride with CBS
While riding in a car together — live-streamed on Twitch, of course — Micah Richards went straight to the heart of the matter: Speed’s famous obsession with Ronaldo.
“What’s the obsession with Ronaldo? We never actually address this on CBS,” Micah asked, clearly curious but also setting the stage for a fun interrogation.
Speed didn’t hesitate. “He is literally No. 1 in the football world.
Ronaldo’s the GOAT,” he said proudly. GOAT meaning “greatest of all time,” of course.
But then, Jamie Carragher jumped in with some classic scepticism: “Were you just using him to get your numbers up?”
Speed shot back with a quick “No,” but Carragher wasn’t convinced. “He was massive on social media. You come in when you were 15 to start to get going, you jump on Ronaldo, you do his celebrations…”
At this point, Micah was in stitches, but Speed decided to clap back in the most unexpected way.
Speed Goes Savage on Carragher with an Unexpected Burn
Just when the conversation was getting playful, Speed took a bold shot at Carragher’s career.
“Jamie, have you ever lifted a trophy a day in your life?” he asked with a deadpan tone.
Carragher, a bit stunned, replied, “Lifted a what?”
“A UCL trophy. Have you ever lifted a UCL trophy?” Speed pressed on, unaware (or pretending not to know) that Carragher was literally part of the Liverpool team that lifted the Champions League in 2005 in one of the most iconic finals ever.
Carragher’s response was laced with dry humour: “What do you think?”
Speed, shaking his head: “No, you have not.”
Carragher then broke the fourth wall, staring into the camera with a smug grin.
“That’ll go down well on your stream. I was only part of the greatest final of all time.”
Naturally, Speed grabbed his phone and started Googling it on the spot, with both pundits chuckling beside him.
Speed vs Carragher Gets Physical on the Pitch
Later in the day, they took their playful rivalry to a more literal playing field: an indoor pitch.
The one-on-one showdown was packed with clumsy dribbles, light tackles, and plenty of comedic energy.
Speed tried to dribble past Carragher but misjudged his touch, sending the ball into the corner — right where Carragher was waiting.
The former defender tried to muscle his way through but didn’t get far either.
Then came another sprint from Speed — this time, he lost both the ball and a shoe.
True to form, he shouted, “He hit me in the face!” despite there being no visual evidence of the alleged foul.
A Trophy Room Carragher Doesn’t Have to Defend
For the record, Jamie Carragher has more silverware than Speed gave him credit for.
In addition to that legendary Champions League win in 2005, he also lifted the FA Cup twice, two League Cups, two Community Shields, two UEFA Super Cups, and one UEFA Cup (which is now the Europa League).
So yes, Carragher has lifted a trophy or ten.
Internet Gold: Football Meets Gen Z Energy
The unexpected day shared between a football veteran and a Gen Z internet icon was pure entertainment — part football, part roast battle, and entirely unpredictable.
It was a reminder that when different worlds collide, the results are chaotic, hilarious, and kind of brilliant.
And who knows? Maybe next time they’ll throw in a real match and keep the cameras rolling.
