That’s exactly what happened to Jane Crompton, a 56-year-old woman from Stalybridge, Greater Manchester, who found herself experiencing love at first sight with her Tesco delivery driver, Jonathan.
What started as a routine delivery 15 years ago turned into something truly special.
A Heartfelt Encounter
Jane recalls the moment she first met Jonathan, admitting that she couldn’t help but stare at him.
She described him as “drop-dead gorgeous” and was instantly flustered when their eyes met.
The butterflies she felt took her by surprise, as it had been years since she’d experienced anything like it, especially after her divorce.
“It was like love at first sight, and I didn’t know what to do with myself,” she said, adding that she felt like a giggling schoolgirl.
Taking a Leap of Faith
After Jonathan left, Jane’s son pointed out that he seemed to take a liking to her as well, which spurred her into action.
Despite feeling it was a bit of a crazy idea, Jane decided to take a chance.
She called Tesco’s customer service and asked them to relay a message to Jonathan.

“I spent hours staring at my phone, and when an unknown number called, my heart was pounding,” Jane shared. The excitement was palpable.
A Love That Couldn’t Be Forgotten
After their phone call, Jane and Jonathan agreed to meet up, but Jonathan revealed he was in a long-term relationship at the time.
Although Jane was disappointed, the two remained friendly, continuing to see each other when Jonathan delivered her shopping.
Jane eventually moved to a new town, but the connection she felt with Jonathan stayed in her heart. “I couldn’t shake the feeling. No one else I met felt like he did,” she explained.
A New Beginning
Hope was rekindled when Jane saw Jonathan’s relationship status on Facebook change to “single.”
It took all her strength to resist sending him a message, but fate intervened when Jonathan commented on one of her photos, complimenting her smile and eyes.
After this flirtatious interaction, Jonathan began delivering to Jane’s area again and even offered to help her with odd jobs around the house.
By May 2023, their relationship blossomed into something more, and they officially started dating.

Now, Jane feels like she’s living in a dream. “It’s like something out of a movie,” she says.
Their bond grows stronger every day, and Jane feels like she can truly be herself with Jonathan.
