Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Faces Residence Dilemma Amidst Deputy Selection Process

Aiyedatiwa’s Pledge and Unconventional Choice

Since his inauguration on December 27, 2023, following the demise of former Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, Lucky Aiyedatiwa has pledged to continue the previous administration’s work.

However, surprisingly, he has opted to conduct his affairs from the former deputy governor’s office instead of the Governor’s Office at the Government House in Alagbaka, Akure.

The Deputy Dilemma – A Governor in Consultation

Sources close to the Governor disclose that Aiyedatiwa is actively consulting on the selection of his deputy, considering candidates from the central or northern senatorial districts.

This ongoing decision-making process is cited as a key reason for his sustained use of the old office.

The Governor’s Current Work Setup

An inside source within the Governor’s Office reveals that Aiyedatiwa continues to utilize his former deputy governor’s office for day-to-day operations and meetings.

Notably, the Government House, including the main Governor’s Office, remains unoccupied, with the Governor preferring the Presidential Lodge for official engagements and visitor receptions.

Official Statement: Renovations and Future Plans

Governor Aiyedatiwa’s Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, clarifies the situation, stating that the Governor is making use of the Government House, particularly the Presidential Lodge, while certain areas undergo renovations.

Adeniyan assures that both the main Governor’s Office and the Governor’s residence are currently under renovation, signaling Aiyedatiwa’s eventual move once the refurbishments are complete.
