A school principal in West Virginia, US, had a close encounter with a black bear when he opened a dumpster behind the school building.
CCTV footage released by the Nicholas County Board of Education shows James Marsh unlocking the dumpster and lifting the lid, only to have the bear jump out and startle him.
Mr Marsh quickly moved away from the animal, which ran off-camera.
