West Ham’s 2005-06 Final Day Victory Over Tottenham Sparks Memory Game Challenge for Football Fans

Welcome to another edition of Teamsheet, Mail Sport’s original football memory challenge.

This game lets you test your football knowledge and challenge your friends to see who knows the most about football history.

Today, we’re rewinding almost 20 years to the dramatic end of the 2005-06 Premier League season.

West Ham ended that year in style, finishing ninth after a memorable 2-1 victory over Tottenham on the final day.

But that’s not the only twist in the tale—Tottenham’s squad was rocked by the infamous ‘lasagne-gate,’ which denied them a spot in the Champions League and handed their bitter rivals, Arsenal, the advantage.

The challenge here is to name the starting 11 for West Ham in that crucial match.

Can you remember the players from that thrilling day? It’s all in good fun, so give it a go and see how well you do.

How to Play

The goal of the game is simple: score as few points as possible!

For every correct guess, you score one point.

Guessing the right player on your first try will get you just one point, so if you manage to guess all 11 players without any mistakes, your score will be 11—the perfect score.

When you guess a letter correctly, it will turn green.

If the letter is in the wrong position but still correct, it will turn yellow.

You have six attempts to guess each player, and if you miss all of them, we’ll reveal the player’s identity for 11 points.

You can also ask for a free letter, but it will cost you an extra point.

So, how low can you score? Will you manage a perfect 11, or will you end up with the full 121 points? Play now and find out!
