Hip-hop star Boitumelo Athiel Mooi, popularly known as DJ Dimplez, passed away on Sunday 6 March from a sudden brain heamorrhage. The Mooi family confirmed his death in a statement to Channel24.

“It is with deep sadness that the Mooi family announces the untimely passing of Boitumelo Athiel Mooi, popularly known as DJ Dimplez.”

HIP-HOP COLLEAGUES REMEMBER DJ DIMPLEZ

Taking to Instagram on Wednesday 9 March, the DJ’s hip-hop colleague, DJ Speedsta, said he was still numb over the death of his close friend.

“I know you had a lot on your mind. The past two years were just taxing on the body and the mind. The only thing really putting ease on my mind is knowing that you are now resting, no more anxiety, no more stress. Just you resting,” wrote Speedsta.

“Thanks for all the moments, all the trips, all the shots, all the advice, all the love. Until we meet again. Rest Easy D.”
