WAM participates in 48th FANA conference in Riyadh

RIYADH, 11th January, 2022 – The Emirates News Agency (WAM) is currently participating in the 48th General Assembly conference of the Federation of Arab News Agencies (FANA), which kicked off today in Riyadh and will run for two days, with the participation of board chairmen, editors-in-chief and directors of FANA member agencies.

The WAM delegation was headed by Ahmed Al Hammadi, Executive Director of the Support Services Sector at WAM.

During the conference, which is hosted Saudi Press Agency (SPA) under the theme “The Role of a News Agency in Addressing Fake News”, Al Hammadi highlighted WAM’s keenness to enhance cooperation between FANA members and drive the development of Arab media content to achieve their shared goals.

He explained that this is especially vital during current events around the world, which necessitate enhancing media awareness and aligning efforts in facing current and future challenges through credible media sources capable of quashing rumours and false news and showcasing Arab achievements globally.

The first day of the conference saw the SPA President elected as the FANA President for its new term.

Participants in the conference will discuss prospects of boosting the media performance of FANA member agencies and enhancing their presence on the global media scene, as well as review the Federation’s activities in 2021 and its 2022 plans.
