Vogue Williams reveals how she misjudged Spencer Matthews’ personality when they first met during The Jump filming in the UK

Sometimes first impressions can be totally misleading — just ask Vogue Williams.

The TV presenter recently opened up about the very first time she met her now-husband Spencer Matthews back in 2017, during filming of the reality ski competition The Jump. Spoiler: she thought he was a “sociopath.”

At the time, Spencer was better known as the hard-partying reality star from Made In Chelsea, quite different from the marathon-running, family-focused dad he is today.

Vogue admitted that his wild reputation made her skeptical from the start.

From Skeptic to Sweetheart: How Their Relationship Blossomed

Speaking to The Sun, Vogue shared how she came into their meeting with a fixed idea.

“I kind of met him with a preconceived idea, and I was like, ‘I’m not going to like him’ because I thought he was a sociopath,” she said.

But things quickly changed once she got to know him.

She realized Spencer’s true personality was “so sound,” and though she was committed to being single, she thought, “He’s going to be a really good friend.”

Of course, we all know how that story ended: they married the following year, in 2018.

Celebrating Seven Years of Marriage and Family Life

Vogue and Spencer now share a happy family with three children—Theodore, six; Gigi, four; and Otto, three—as well as two dogs.

Earlier this month, Vogue celebrated their seventh wedding anniversary on Instagram with beautiful photos of the couple.

Dressed in a striking neon yellow dress next to Spencer in a sharp black tuxedo, she captioned the post, “7 years married today. 3 kids, two dogs and a whole lot of fun.”

It’s clear their relationship has come a long way from those early doubts.

Reflecting on Life After Divorce and Managing Anxiety

Before meeting Spencer, Vogue experienced a difficult period following her divorce from Westlife singer Brian McFadden.

Speaking candidly on The Life of Bryony podcast, she revealed she once “thought her life was over” after splitting from Brian at age 31.

She opened up about how, despite the “outside noise” that sometimes surrounds her marriage, she’s grateful for the strong, loving family she and Spencer have built together.

Vogue also revealed her ongoing battle with anxiety, a challenge that has shadowed much of her adult life.

Navigating Anxiety Amidst the Spotlight

In her upcoming autobiography Big Mouth, Vogue details the ups and downs of living with anxiety.

She told Bryony Gordon that while she manages it much better now, certain triggers like drinking alcohol can still intensify her symptoms.

She shared, “It’s this thing in your life that you wish would just go away.

Sometimes it’s fine, sometimes it’s a lot worse.

When I wake up, I am really conscious of any mood I could be in.”

Though she rarely takes beta-blockers anymore, Vogue acknowledges that the pressures of her career and the “noise” from people outside her family often cause stress.

She explained, “In this industry, certain people are very much out for themselves.

The way they portray themselves isn’t true — it’s not actually who they are.”
