You never really know where life will take you. Just ask Danny Andrews — a guy who once went viral for his fish and rice cake diet, and now, years later, has found the love of his life thanks to a dating show.
Danny first gained internet fame back in 2007 when, at just 16 years old, he appeared in a documentary called Baby Faced Body Builders.
His strict and repetitive meal plan — yes, fish and rice cakes six times a day — turned him into a living meme.
The internet ran wild with it.
But what started as light-hearted fun quickly turned sour, and Danny stepped away from the online world for years.
Life After Going Viral: The Comeback
After disappearing from social media for a while, Danny eventually decided to lean into the meme rather than run from it.
He reemerged with charm and confidence, showing up on reality dating shows like First Dates, Celebs Go Dating, and Love Triangle.
And it turns out, the latter would change his life.
Eight months ago, Danny signed on to Love Triangle mainly for a bit of fun — and, as he put it, to give his rice cake business a little PR boost.
But he got way more than he bargained for.
He met Sadie Bass, a 29-year-old social media manager from Bristol, and everything changed.
Sadie and Danny: The Modern Love Story
Sadie admits she had no idea who Danny was at first — even though she and her friends used to joke about the viral video.
It wasn’t until a group of fans asked for pictures with Danny at a shopping mall that she realized she was dating “the fish and rice cake guy.”
“I thought it was hilarious,” Sadie said.
“I didn’t know I was dating meme royalty.”
Though their relationship started off under a spotlight, it’s blossomed into something genuine.
The pair had to keep things under wraps due to show contracts, but now that the NDA has lifted, they’re finally going public — and even planning to move in together.
Sadie is relocating from Bristol to Preston to live with Danny after their upcoming holiday to Tenerife.
A Business Born from a Meme
While love may have taken centre stage, Danny’s also been building something else behind the scenes — a business based on his viral past.
With friend and business partner Zack McGuirk, Danny launched a protein rice cake company last year.
What began as a bit of a joke has turned into a serious brand with five employees and growing online sales.
They’ve even got merchandise, all packed and shipped by hand.
Now, Danny and Zack are working on getting their products into major retailers.
“It’s wild,” Danny says.
“I make money from something I used to be embarrassed about. But now I’ve turned it into something positive.”
More Than a Meme: The Man Behind the Fame
Despite the fame, Danny remains grounded.
He’s open about how tough the early days of internet stardom were — the negativity, the mockery, and the impact on his mental health.
But these days, things are different.
“Now, 80% of the comments I get are supportive,” he says.
Even Sadie, who isn’t your typical “gym guy” fan, has brought out a new side of him.
“She’s more into poetry and quiet nights than protein shakes,” Danny jokes.
But somehow, they just work. And he believes none of it would’ve happened if not for the show.
Turning Fame into Something Real
Danny admits he’s done with the reality TV world, but he’s grateful it led him to Sadie.
What started as a fun project — and maybe a bit of free marketing — has turned into the real thing.
“I’ve done all the dating shows, but now I’ve got the real deal,” he says.
And honestly, it’s a reminder for all of us: even if your past makes people laugh, your future can be something truly meaningful.
