Violent Attacks on Lagos Police Stations: Authorities Investigate Unrest and Motives

The subsequent events resulted in the setting ablaze of the police post and the injury of a policeman on duty.

Attack on Police Post:

The angry mob not only set the police post on fire but also inflicted harm on a policeman who was present at the time.

The injured officer suffered a head injury and was promptly rushed to an emergency center at the toll gate along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway for immediate medical attention.

The motive behind this attack remains uncertain.

Firefighting Efforts and Minimal Damage:

The Lagos State Fire Service was contacted during the incident and acted swiftly, mobilizing to the scene.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the occurrence and assured that an investigation has been initiated.

As of now, no suspects have been apprehended in connection with the incident.

Authorities are actively working to uncover the motives behind the attack and identify those responsible.

Attempted Takeover of Alausa Police Station:

In a separate incident on Sunday, individuals suspected to be members of the Yoruba Nation were intercepted during an attempt to seize control of the Alausa Police Station in Ikeja.

Approximately 15 agitators were present, recording videos of themselves chanting slogans expressing their dissatisfaction with the Nigerian police and claiming the Yoruba Nation’s authority in Yoruba land.

During the confrontation, the protesters attacked some policemen stationed at the police station.

In response, additional police officers were rapidly deployed to the scene to disperse the agitators.

Two individuals were apprehended during the incident, while others managed to evade capture.

The police recovered charms, cutlasses, and insignia associated with the group from the arrested suspects.
