US no longer require a negative COVID-19 test to enter the country

The Biden administration on Friday announced that the US will no longer need international passengers to take a COVID-19 test before entering the country.

The shift comes over a year since the US began demanding a negative test for entrance, and over two years since the start of the pandemic. The mandate will officially expire on Sunday at 12.01am EDT, according to a senior administration official.

The testing requirement was put in place last year by the Biden administration when it loosened rules preventing nonessential travel from several dozen nations, including much of Europe, China, Brazil, South Africa, India and Iran.
