Russia has once again declared a cease-fire in Ukraine starting on Monday, 7 March 2022.

This is to allow humanitarian corridors for the evacuation of civilians from four cities. Russian troops disrupted the cease-fire that was declared on Sunday, 6 March 2022.

RUSSIA DECLARES CEASE-FIRE IN UKRAINE AGAIN

According to ABC News, Russian interagency humanitarian response staff in Ukraine said the cease-fire will allow evacuations from 4 cities; Kyiv, Mariupol, Kharkiv and Sumy.

“Taking into account the disastrous humanitarian situation and its severe deterioration in the cities of Kyiv, Kharkiv, Sumy, and Mariupol, and also at French President Emmanuel Macron’s personal request to Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Russian Armed Forces are declaring a ceasefire and opening humanitarian corridors for reasons of humanity starting 10:00 a.m. on March 7, 2022,” the staff said.

A ceasefire had been in place to allow for the evacuations on Sunday, 6 March 2022, but the Red Cross aborted the mission amid reports of attacks by Russian troops.

“Amid devastating scenes of human suffering in Mariupol, a second attempt today to start evacuating an estimated 200,000 people out of the city came to a halt. The failed attempts yesterday and today underscore the absence of a detailed and functioning agreement between the parties to the conflict,” the International Committee of the Red Cross said.

The Ministry of Defence in Ukraine said as of 7 March 2022, from the beginning of the day, the Russian occupier has continued to carry out rocket-bomb and artillery strikes on settlements in Ukraine.

“The invaders continue to use the airfield network of the Republic of Belarus to carry out air strikes on Ukraine. Acting insidiously, the occupiers violate the rules of international humanitarian law, shell civilians, “green corridors”, take women and children hostage, place equipment, ammunition in residential areas of cities, artificially create a humanitarian crisis in the occupied settlements. Yes, the city of Irpin remains deprived of light, water and heat for more than three days, there is no supply of food and water, the occupiers forbade citizens to leave their homes.”
