Iwrekhan and Edjophe communities of Ughievwen kingdom, Ughelli South Local Government Area have decried last week protest by some communities in Udu kingdom, Udu local Government Area Delta State over claim to ongoing replacement of pipelines in the trunk line of their communities.
During a peaceful protest on Saturday Iwrekhan and Edjophe communities appealed to the state government to call on the Udu Local Government Chairman and the Ovie of Udu kingdom to caution the communities as the said project do not in anyway impact on them.
As early as 5:30 in the morning, the youths and the elderly in the two communities gathered at the Edjophe Community Primary School to be briefed by the leaders of both communities who are first and second children of Orhowe subclan, the Senior children of Ughievwen.
They came in their numbers to rally support for the entire host communities of OML 34 of the NPDC whose right of way passed through Edjophe and Iwhrekhan in the ongoing replacement of pipelines in the trunk line of their communities.
The protest was to reassure the communities members, indigenes and non indigenes not to panic as a result of the alleged invasion by Owhrode, Erephiyo, Owodohkpokpor and Otordu communities claiming the said trunk line are theirs.
They decried the protest which halted business activities and putting the project on hold on Thursday.
