Tucker Carlson has stirred up controversy with his recent remarks about Michelle Obama’s marriage to former President Barack Obama.
During an appearance on The Megyn Kelly Show, Carlson boldly stated that Michelle “hates” her husband, claiming that their relationship is a prime example of what’s wrong with society today.
Carlson went as far as to say that Michelle’s dislike for Barack is “super obvious,” adding that he wasn’t just being “catty” but genuinely concerned.
“I think I’m trying to feel compassion for her,” Carlson explained, “but her hostility toward the guy is unbelievable.”
According to Carlson, an unhappy marriage is one of the most destabilizing forces in society, which is why he believes Michelle’s apparent unhappiness is so troubling.
The Unhappy Marriage Narrative
Carlson didn’t stop there. He argued that Michelle represents a “whole class of people” who share similar feelings of “restlessness,” “rage,” and “emptiness.”
In his view, these emotions are contributing to the breakdown of society.
“She’s like a freak show,” Carlson said, adding that he enjoys making fun of her but still feels sympathy for the underlying issue.
Megyn Kelly, who was co-hosting the show, agreed with Carlson’s sentiment, pointing out that everything Michelle says about Barack seems negative.
She contrasted Michelle’s remarks with her own relationship, saying, “I almost never say negative things about Doug. I go to what’s positive and what I love about him.”
Michelle Obama’s Open Discussions About Her Marriage Struggles
Michelle Obama has been open about her struggles within her marriage, particularly in recent years.
In her podcast IMO (In My Opinion), which she co-hosts with her brother Craig Robinson, Michelle has touched on the ups and downs of her 32-year marriage.
Despite the ongoing public fascination with the couple, Michelle has discussed the challenges they’ve faced, including Barack’s financial difficulties when they first met and his lack of punctuality.
On the podcast, Michelle explained how she had to be convinced to support Barack’s presidential bid, and she candidly admitted to feeling unsure about what being married to the President would mean.
“We knew Barack was smart and ambitious, but, you know…” Michelle said, reflecting on their early years together.
Michelle Addresses Divorce Rumors
In the wake of rumors suggesting marital issues, Michelle directly addressed some of the most recent speculation.
Earlier this month, she appeared on actress Sophia Bush’s podcast and explained why she chose to skip both President Jimmy Carter’s funeral and President Donald Trump’s inauguration.
According to Michelle, these were personal decisions made for herself, not indications of a marital crisis.
“That’s the thing that we as women, I think we struggle with,” Michelle said on the podcast.
“People couldn’t fathom that I was making a choice for myself, so they assumed that my husband and I are divorcing.”
She pointed out how society tends to label women’s personal decisions negatively when they don’t conform to expected norms.
Michelle Responds to the ‘Angry Black Woman’ Stereotype
Michelle also took time to address the media’s portrayal of her, especially the “angry black woman” stereotype.
“The first label they put on us as Black women is that we are angry,” she explained.
“And the irony is, like, yeah, I am probably less light than many of my white female friends.”
Michelle went on to share how she has been misjudged for simply being honest about her life, with some journalists suggesting she emasculated Barack by sharing her truth.
Despite the media’s often harsh criticism, Michelle continues to speak out about the pressures she faces as a public figure, particularly as a Black woman navigating the complexities of fame, marriage, and motherhood.
The Obamas’ Public Appearances Amid Rumors
Amid the swirling rumors, the Obamas have been spotted together in public, including two recent dinner outings in Washington, D.C.
These moments of togetherness seem to challenge the ongoing speculation about their relationship, offering a glimpse into their private lives despite the public scrutiny.
While the rumors continue, Michelle and Barack have both been vocal about their commitment to one another, with Michelle emphasizing the importance of making personal decisions without worrying about society’s judgments.
